hey guys, i now have a stang. i bought a 97 gt vert 5spd the other day with 121k, this think is super clean and the top is almost perfect other than it is discolored in a few spots, it came with cobra r replicas, it is green with tan top and int.

about 4 days later the thing is acting like it doesn't want to go all the way into reverse and has poped out a few times unless i hold it in utill i get going good, and it has a little when i go into 5th sometimes i was wondering if this could be caused by low fluid or what. i have checked all the other fluids, i just haven't taken time yet to crawl under the car to check this

121k is ALOT of miles for a stang. Ur gonna have alot of problems, and things will be needing to be replaced.

the reverse gear always acts up for me too, its nothing big. what i do is hold the clutch in a little longer before shifting into it and it goes in fine. 5th is a bit sticky for me too, but i rarely use it. probably gonna need your intake manifold raplaced with the aluminum crossover version, but luckily for you ford lost that lawsuit and in september you should be covered under an extended warranty. my car has a lot of miles on it too, no problems yet...but im also replacing just about everything in the engine bay failry soon heh. aside from a possible manifold cracking in your near future, you should be in good shape if it was well taken care of, which i assume it was for being so clean

I don't think Ford has syncros in reverse gear, but I'm not sure. Anyway, at 121K, a rebuild would probably be wise. In the meantime, maybe draining and replace the fluid with Royal Purple would help?

heh dont rebuild it, throw it away its only got 200 hp. get a better motor if you end up wanting to replace it, like get a 4.6 outta a 99+ so you dont have to mess around with the heads. smartest thing i ever did, just taking a hell of a long time to get it put in [&:].

well it runs good, and i'm gonna keep it that way until it blows then i'll put a new motor in. also if i did happen to put in the motor from a 99 up, would i have to get a new computer or could i use the one in it.

well im putting a 01 saleen engine in mine and im using the computer that came with that. im pretty sure you will need the newer computer.

thanks, mine looks just like yours other than i have chrome cobra rims and i don't have any blackouts, but i am going to put some new headlights in cause tha gay factory ones like to fog up or whatever you call it.
