Default key programing

Hi to all,

I just got my 96 GT back from the shop. When I got it stolen they busted my ignition switch, my local locksmith told he can not get into the computer port to program the new key I do not know whats wrong with it and him neither.. any suggestions out there? I dont want to take it to the local dealer I know they're going to want to charge me an arm and a leg.

Thank you.

Default RE: key programing

Talk to your insurance agent. Any cost associated with repairs due to the theft, should have been covered minus your deductable.

I'm no expert, but I thought the chip for the keys was somewhere in the ignition switch? A new switch should come with keys already programed, I would think.

Best of luck to you.
