Default Turbocharging questions.

Hi,

I see a lot of ads for things like t-25 turbo off a mitsubishi, or volvo turbo chargers and the like insanely cheap...

How hard would it be to modify one of these and put in on a 2004 mustang gt?

I'm no super concerned about extra HP (even an extra 30-40 would make it worth it.)

But, I'm more curious about how to go about doing it? If it's even commonly done?

No it's not commonly done, in fact I'm willing to bet it's never been done at all. Reason being, a stock turbo off a mitsubishi or a volvo is far too small for these engines. Look at all the kits for these cars. The smallest single turbo I've seen available is a 61mm. If you're going for twins, I believe the smallest I've seen is 57mm. A turbo that small is going to choke your engine.

I've been contemplating boosting my gt aswell if your looking for a kit this is the cheapest I think you will find
http://www.on3performance.com/mustanggt.html
But since its so cheap ive been hearing alot of mixed reviews about it, expecially since they apparently dont offer the turbonetics 70mm upgrade anymore.

From anyone I've talked to, the Master Power turbo they offer is a fine choice. The biggest issue I've heard is that the V-band clamps are cheap. Buy some better clamps, it might take a bit of finessing in some areas, but for about $4000 (need to buy tubular front end and fuel system) you really can't beat it on a budget turbo setup.
