both are great engines. pros & cons to both. read somewhere the 4.6 can handle up to 800 horses before major mods are needed. can also rev 500 rpm (to redline) more than the 302. got plenty of cash? 4.6 definately costs more to mod. but that is rapidly changing. i have a 4.6, like it better. nothing wrong with the 5.0. my uncle has a '65 falcon that's tubbed with a 400 horse 302 under the hood. it ain't slow. so, it's just personal preference. whatever you get, both have bunches of potential. good luck on your search.

800 horses doesn't sound right to me. Maybe the block can, but nothing else will. maybe.
