you will get more torque because of the taller gear. alot of people say that ford threw the wrong gearing when they built the mustang due to the power lag due to the gearing. putting 4.10's in will make it feel like you added about 30 or more hp to your car even though your not. these are what every mustang needs excluding sced ones. the gears will run you about 180. for the ford racing one, 80. - 100. for the install kit with shims and bearings, and the install of everything will run 250. to 300. this is to me the best mod for the mustang and would recommend it to any mustang owner. just my .02 cents.
To add to that, if you plan on doing some serious drag racing, or you want to be on the safe side, you should consider 31 spline axles, a different differential, some DR's, some UCA's & LCA's. With all that done and some Royal Purple rearend fluid in there...you will have nothing else to modify in your rear end 'cept for maybe welding those torque boxes. I paid $180 for my 4.10's. I had to get a pinion bearing seal, & a new gasket, but the FRPP 4.10's came w/everything else I needed.

nufan -
anytime a company says their product gives you a certain number of horsepower, they are usually full of crap. a k&n just lets your car rev up easier, it won't really give you much more hp. maybe 2 or 3, but you can't feel that while driving. Also from what I've seen chips usually don't increase your max hp too much, but they change your power curve to give you better low rpm power.

thanks for all the input guys! I will look into the gears more seriously now. Good thing because the PI Heads are a little to much $$$$ for me right now. Is there a way to find out if its been done already? The car has alot of tourque, but I also have never owned a stang before.
I don't plan on doing really hard driving as this is my daily driver, but if i get some chockey Civic next to me I want to be able to shut him/her up! Is that wrong

it seems to find out the easiest way is to take your car up to 70mph and compare your rpms compared to a stock mustang. just tell us what your rpms are at 70mph and we can tell you if you have gears or not... im interested to know what your rpms are at..

Ok, yeah i'm pretty sure I don't have gears in it. At 70 mph in 5th gear I'm at about 2100 rpm.
The noob stuff continues...I found out I have bassani headers on it though!

Also, if anyone could tell me how to fix my damn sig the the pic will show!

thanks
