Default Car stalls on startup

Car is a 2000 mustang GT. Car started and drove to work fine this morning. This afternoon when I started it it died immediatly. Tried several more times with the same result. Was able to keep it running by keeping RPM above 1500. What might be the problem? Seems like some kind of air/fuel problem.

Idle Air Control valve as stated above is most likely. Take it off, and spray the **** out of it with carb cleaner, blow it out with some air, and put it back on. If it improves any at all, it's a bad IAC. You need a new one. They are easy to replace, and not very expensive. Very common failure on these and other fords.

The OEM IAC valve is NOT serviceable as stated by Cliffyk. He is going to have to go to autozone and pick one up for $52... I just went through this over the winter, so i know how frustrating is can be chester!

No pissing match here...just making something clear as it seems you have misunderstood my post. Which is ok, as everyone else does too, EVERY SINGLE TIME I POST THIS.

I am not in any way saying that the IAC is "serviceable", as in, able to be restored to normal operating condition by being cleaned. HOWEVER, cleaning it is a good way to show if the IAC is indeed in need of replacement. On every vehicle I have had an IAC fail, cleaning it has improved the operation of the vehicle just a small amount, there by showing that the IAC is the problem. Then I would go buy the IAC. Problem solved. It is nothing more than 15 mins of easy troubleshooting to show that the component has failed. If you removed the IAC, cleaned it, and saw no change, it is not decidedly good still, but if you clean and DO see a change, it certainly is decidedly bad. So again, I am not saying it is serviceable, BUT CLEANING IT CAN SHOW IF IT HAS FAILED!

***** I ought to put this is my sig so I don't have to repeat it in every single IAC thread lol.
