Is it cheaper to beef up my block or go with a MMR short block??

WAIT!! Don't buy through the phone or though the website. Go to eBay. They sell the exact same short blocks for $400 less. Their internet sales are to move volume so hints why the prices are cheaper for the same block. Truthfully it can be a few hundreds dollars cheaper doing it yourself if you find the right shop. I went to a local ford dealership and asked a mechanic in the back who they used as a machine shop. The recommended a shop and I went to them and asked what they charged. You will be surprised how cheap labor can get if you cut the middle man out and go straight to the source. If you do it yourself you can cut it almost in half. My mechanic built his entire short block fully forged for $2k rated to 1000 rwhp.

^^^Hey man thanks for that info. That may be another option. I tried to pull up that link and it wouldn't open. How much does the guy want for that block and what kind is it? Thxs

hmm it works for me, that block was an 03 cobra block with a bad piston, he wanted 1100 cash , it was more as an example than anything but they have a couple mach 1 short blocks for sale,as long as your not in a rush and have the cash saved i would just wait and get that perfect deal like i did, worst it would be if you dont find anything then you would have the cash for the mmr 600 block you were looking at anyway.

^^^sounds good.. I had planning on putting 1700 bucks down on the MMR block next May but if I come across something a little better I'll jump on it. Lizzy also suggested that don't buy the MMR 600 block to go with the 900 so if I can't find a cheaper block that's what I'll go with (900). BTW how much HP can a 03 Cobra block handle? They have them for sale all the time on corral .net. I want to ultimately hit 600 RWHP, might not happen for about 3 yrs but it's gonna happen. Thanks again for the help bro much appreciated.
