FUEL PUMP QUESTION
#11
well if you are asking that, of COURSE it could hurt the motor. You need a wideband so that you know if you are going lean or not... no need to assume a pump is or isn't working.
we are saying its vauge because there is no real right answer. Depending on what power you make at what RPM, you could get by on one pump w/out doing damage to the motor if you drive it EASY. Thats what we are trying to say. there isnt a simple "yes" or "no"

If you have a 600 horse setup that requires one big pumo or two walboros it doens't matter if the single pump dies or a pump on the dual setup dies, if it dies and you are WOT its the same chance of damage.

ok. i appreciate the info. I was just thinking since my truck had one pump and would not start that maybe my stang would do the same with on pump and no damage. I guess ill just stay with the 2 pumps. I just want to protect the motor.

I get what your saying. You are worried about one pump failing and not knowing it because the car will still start and run in normal driving. You need to get gauges that will tell you and the best one to get is a fuel pressure gauge. You will know as soon as you start making boost that you have a pump out.

Or you can rig a warning light up with something like this. http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecId=2980
It would be pretty simple just hook the power to a WOT switch so its only active at WOT and set it to come on below 50psi.
