Default Issue flushing cooling system

Ok I emptied out all the coolant and ran water through it until it came out clear(with the engine on and off), and when I go to refill the system the water will not drain(it just sits in the overflow tank). So I turn the engine on, the water will start move up then bubbles and go's back down. It will keep doing that until the car gets warm, then it will start moving up and start pouring out of the overflow tank. Any ideas on whats causing this?

Kinda sounds like the thermostat wasn't/didn't open. Was the car at OT when doing the flush?

oh ok, and yes I open the drain when water started pouring out of the tank. Also someone told me that I should lift the front end more while flushing so I will try that out too.

Sounds like there's air in the system. I did what you did, kept topping it off with water until it came out clear, then let all te water drain, closed the valve, and then put straight coolant in, about 2 gallons, which should of gave me close to a 50/50 mix. I had the front end lifted, and after you get the coolant in I would rev it to 2500 for 30 seconds then let it idle for a minute or two, and repeat. This is the best method ive found to get all the air out of the system.

So when the coolant starts to over flow out of the tank do I just let it go until it stops?

Interesting...I always thought that any air in the system would just slowly bubble out. I hard there is a such thing as a giant pocket if air around the water pump which causes it not to move any water. Not sure if thats your issue.

I would just add water until the resevoir is halfway full and let it idle for a decent amount of time and watch the water level. It it rises, let it. I think eventually it will start to go back down and then slowly add water as needed.

Ok I did it again, with the front lifted up. It still doing the same thing, I noticed when It gets up to temp. the water rises and starts boiling. So Im going to let it cool and keep trying until I get all the air out the system.
