Default 16" v6 wheels for drag tires??

I have a full set of 16" v6 wheels i believe they are 7.5in wide...i weighed them and they are 17lbs where as a 15x8 weld is roughly 13 and change...would it be worth throwing a set of hoosiers or mt's on these wheels? I know my best bet is the welds but they cost $$$...whats a good tire for them and size...i dont want nittos 555r i used to have them on my 17x10.5

obviously there are better options as you know but its pretty common for people to throw slicks on sixxer rims because its very cheap to do. the track back in florida (8th mile) i ran a completely stock GT who was running sixxer rims with slicks. he was hooking good and cutting about mid 8's and he was killing me off the line.

if you want some decent, cheap track tires/wheels then yeah go for it.

Thats what I did, I bought some 15x7 v6 rims(weighs 16lbs) off a guy on craigslist for $40. Now I just need the $$$ to put some good Dr's on them. I think a good tire for you will be a mt et street 255/50/16. That way the overall diameter isn't way off.
