Default lower compression

what affect would a lower compression ratio have on a N/A engine?

Why the **** would you do that? You'd lose power.

The only reason to lower compression is for boost.

haha im not doing it! i was just looking at some parts and the compression drop with the different piston heads and i didnt know what affect they would have on a N/A engine. i know that its used in a FI engine to reduce stress on the bottom end just wasnt sure what other affects it would have. thanks

It would produce less power, with nothing but f/i or juice available to increase it.

BTW, on f/i engines lower compression ratios only indirectly reduce bottom end stress--directly it allows more optimally advanced ignition timing without irregular flame fronts and pockets of destructive detonation.
