Car is idleing WAYY too high!! HELP
I just done a tune up on my car today. changed my plugs and serpatine belt and also had the trouble codes run on my car and idle air control valve was bad which i knew. if i leave the IACV unplug the car idles around 900-1000 rpm. if i plug in the IACV the cars idle shoots up to 1600-2000 rpm and stays there! eventually after a minute or two itll slowly idle down to aroudn 1000rpm then if i touch the throttle slightly it shoots back up. i put a brand new IACV on and got the codes reset and nothing. same deal. i unplugged the battery cable for 5 mins then hooked it back up and same thing still!! Im completely stumped and have no idea wat would be causeing this. Anybody have any suggestions?! PLEASE HELPP!!

What brand IACV did you buy? I would recommend a motocraft IACV, I have had nothing but bad luck with autozone or oreily brand sensors.
Motocraft=good
Even after I put a new IACV valve on mine it took a couple of days before the idle settled where it was supposed to.

I bought one from Advance auto. it was like 57 bucks. with my car being a stick it makes it hard to drive with it idled at 1700 rpms. not to mention its quite embarassing. :/ So idk wat to do. ive been ready up on it and nothin has helped. im bout to go unplug the battery for about 30 mins or so and see if that helps. prolly not but worth a try

hoses and gaskets ???
You said you just did a tune up. Maybe you bumped a vacuum hose and knocked it off the plenum or CAI. Or, maybe you need a new gasket where the IAC bolts to the plenum.
If you think this idea might help, go to the American Muscle site and find their installation instructions for a new plenum (accufab or other) and check all the hoses and gaskets it talks about removing and re-installing.
Hope this helps.

yea ill prolly be takin it back tomorrow being that its doin the same thing with the new one as it did with the old one.
and i triple checked all hoses and plugs just to make sure BUT the new IACV did not come with a gasket so i didnt replace it. but i dont think itd be doin the same exact thing as the old if it was the gasket. or would it?? idk im clueless on this. lol
