Strength of cast block and crank
So, I am in the beginning stages of pricing out my 4.6 build. I have a KB 2.1 installed on my stock 96GT engine running 9psi. I am looking to build a motor to hold around 550rwhp on the safe side @ 14psi. I truly do not ever see myself needing more than that, as the car has still never seen the track, and is mainly just a weekend warrior.
So here is the question, should I build a teksid block with a forged crank, rods, and pistons or should I run the 4.6 cast block, cast crank, and just add forged rods and pistons. From what I have been reading online it looks like the cast crank and block should be able to hold the power pretty easily, but I want to make sure it is the way to go. By not buying the forged crank and teksid block, I would save around $500.00 which I could use somewhere else.

I know it may seem retarded that I am trying to save money with the parts I already have, but every little bit helps .

Completely agree. Your block is fine just go/$$$ for the internals crank,rods,pistons.

Thanks guys for the input. I know the teksid weighs about 40lbs less which would be awesome. I guess if I can score the block cheap I will pick it up. Otherwise I will just use my block and pick up a forged crank, rods and pistons.
