Stall converters, depending on what the stall speed of them is , will lock-up or "catch" at that speed....with a stock converter, stall speed is usually around 1300 rpms, so once the engine hits 1300 rpms, it will start turning the trans.... with a 2000 rpm stall converter, it wont turn the trans until the engine is at 2000 rpm.... the reason the cam calls for a different stall speed is so that you get the engine into its "power band" before turning the wheels </P>

a 2000 stall wont effect drivability much..... thats a good street stall, my camaro has a 3000 stall but its just a weekend cruiser/track car... to find out your stall speed, hold your brake while pressing your gas, watch your tach, once your tires break loose, thats your stall speed</P>

i looked up converters and all i found was torque converters, can this stall rpm just be programmed in, for example like using a superchip/diablo sport etc?

torque converters and stall converters are the same, just look for the stall speed of them....no they cannot be programmed, they are not electronic... what year is your car?<edited><editID>Black Horse</editID><editDate>37963.866724537</editDate></edited>

a 2500 rpm would be right for it since it say '2500" doesn't always mean 2500 there are many factors being close to stock from this one might be 2200..black horse is a lil off on how it work..what happens is it does take a few more rpms to get moving but the trans can move as low as 900 rpm and become fully ingauged around 2200-2500. it's a complex item. it's gives your engine the feel on being loose with a more radical cam.the biggest trans cooler should be used that you can fit in can as stall convertor build up more heat
