Default Help with part..

Ok i am trying to clean up my engine bay some.
I don't know what the part is call but,its the black plastic box looking thing that hook from intake to plenum.What is that for? is it needed? can i just remove it an run a hose from intake to plenum.seem like it look better without it there.

That would be a silencer box. Yes you can take it off and put a straight plastic hose. It looks 1000xs better and it may free up like 1hp while ur at it

That is actually a resonator box for the IAC. It's there to breakup standing waves in the IAC feed, mostly a NVH thingy.

It will add no HP if removed, but could cause some minimal idle surging and added intake noise in the form of the IAC valves plunger's normal fluttering being amplified by the intake tube...

So it is non harmful to remove? other then idle an maybe some noise?
