Default 3 K&N Air Filters, which is the right one for my car?

So I'm about ready to replace my stock air filter, but when I do a search on my make and model it pulls up 3 different ones. I'm pretty sure it's the more expensive of the 3 that I need. However, the stainless steel one looks so sharp, but they say it's for racing only. However it's the only one that mentions HP gain.
I don't expect more than 3-5HP out of an air filter, but I'd at least like to get the best one.

My car is my daily driver, so does that mean that racing only one shouldn't even be a consideration. If it's only about emission laws well...lets just say New Mexico doesn't test emissions.

The filter that replaces the stock one is the one on the left. It says DIRECT FIT. You can take the snorkel off you air filter housing for a little more air. It pulls right off.

Yeah but will those Stainless steel ones work, because they look awesome. If it's just a matter of buying a connecting tube or something I'd do that.

So you're supposed to use the airbox???

All the underhood pictures I've seen have the air filter completely exposed???

There's a good chance those pictures you have seen are not with the stock cold air intake assembly but an aftermarket setup. Stock ones will have the filter covered for the most part (a bit will be exposed with removal of the air silencer snorkel).

Also, +1 to the filter on the left being the stock style replacement. That's what mine looks like.

But you're supposed to keep it in the stock plastic setup and not exposed?

Hmm...ok if that's the correct way to do it.
