Default why is my clutch pedal sticking?

i had a new-to-me transmission installed a week and a half ago. since then, i've noticed a trend. after a few miles of driving, my clutch pedal wants to stick when letting it out. now, this makes it difficult to drive, because i can't let the clutch out slowly, or it will stick and then pop out, causing me to either stall out or hit the gas to get going. either way, it looks like i can't drive, because the car is rocking violently. my setup is as follows:
  • TR3650
  • SPEC stage 1 clutch
  • lightweight flywheel
  • SPEC TOB and pilot bearing
  • OEM clutch cable
  • BBK firewall adjuster
  • UPR triple hook quadrant

all items are brand new except for the trans, and i've put about 150 miles on the setup. it shift like a charm, no issues that i can see. i have a single hook BBK quadrant that pulls my cable too tight, but i threw it on there real quick to test it, and it has the same effect, so i don't think it's my quadrant grabbing the cable. the best way to describe it is when i go to let the clutch out, it feels like the pedal is real jerky from the floor right to where the clutch would grab. after the clutch grabs, the pedal is fine. i don't know if it's specifically clutch related, though, because i've adjusted the firewall adjuster, and the point where the clutch sticks doesn't change with the adjuster. when i push it in, it feels like the cable is binding somewhere. i had my wife push the clutch in while standing next to the car, and i can hear it from the outside, but i can't pinpoint where it's coming from.

any thoughts guys? this makes it very hard to drive like this.

I would disconnect the cable at the release lever end and with someone in the car work the pedal/cable through its range (you pull, they push), if that action is smooth then it may be that the release lever/TOB is binding.

You cannot see much through the release lever slot however peeking in there with a light might reveal something...

another forum i belong to pointed to the same thing. i have out of state training tomorrow, so i left my car with the tech at my dealership i trust to work on my car, he's going to look at it for me. i'm just afraid it won't do it for him. it barely stuck at all on the way to work today. the other night it was so bad i stalled the car twice.

There may just not be enough grease on the shaft or the pivot ball your clutch fork is resting on causing it to stick most likely the shaft and now your TOB is sticking. Or as said before your cable.

TOB shaft is was! took it down into my shop yesterday and the tech sprayed some white lithium in where the fork goes in. i can still feel it a little bit, but it's not nearly as bad as it was. the other day in stop-and-go baltimore city traffic, i stalled multiple times because the clutch was popping. now it's manageable. thanks guys!

oh, and the tech loved it when i asked him to lube my shaft :naughty:
