Default ENGINE RATTLE

Sorry, had this posted as "weird rattle" but I think no one resp. becasue they thought it was a interior rattle etc...tried to edit original title but could not

I have had my 01 GT for about a week now on I have the oddest noise. It only happens at light throttle when the engine is not under load. Almost like a diesel rattle, similar to a wrist pin. Happens at about 2500 rpm, it you hold throttle at 2500 rpm you can hear it but tap throttle and it goes away... Sounds like it is coming front right side of motor. I was trying to fix it this weekend and was pulling all the COPs and checking the plugs, notcied that one of the COPs had the 7mm retaining screw broken. I was thinking that maybe it was allowing the COP to lose contact with the spark plug. Fixed it but noise it still there, could it be that the plug is fouled? Checked all the plugs for tighness, and have been reading about other possible reasons like timing chain tensioners, bad lifter, etc...any ideas, anyone?

Could be a timing chain tensioner--how many miles on the engine?

When my 4.6 dohc rattled at 2500rpm it turned out to be a spun rod bearing...

was just about to say rod bearing. I am about 99% sure thats what it is. you either need a new motor or motor build. if any mechanic says he can do just the bearings and it be fine dont use him! any reputable mechanic will tell you to do a engine rebuild because just changing the bearings is a 50/50 chance it will work or not...

took it to 2 mechanics today, both said piston slap, told them that freaked me out a bit but they said its not too big of an issue, and didnt think it would grenade the motor...any tricks to lessen the noise or miracle fluid...im going to dump in 16 oz of motor honey which might quiet it down a bit...
