Default Better air flow with super charger

I wanted to improve air flow on my 1999 GT with allen super charger(6lbs) with chip.
However, I have no idea what after market MAF, plenums or throttle body
will help gain horse power.

I was looking at buying C& L 80mm MAF system at $240( CNL 10699) or one without MAf at around $125. I was also looking at C&L plenums for around $220 and 70 or 75mm throttle body$150.

Would any of above will help gain additional HP or is it just waste of money.

After all is said and done, after getting burnt many times over bad products, I might just buy
C&L true flow filter kit at $125. the kit comes with K&N filter MAF filter adapter and molded filter cover.

Or buy above with MAF housing for $240 with claimed increase in HP by 14.

I am confused, pls help.

You want to improve airflow getting a smaller pulley and up the boost that will increase air flow. As far as plenums and TB's and intakes and crap. Since you are supercharged they will definetely help. Wether you need the MAF or not is debatable, the stock one will work fine up until around 450 rwhp or so, so you dont have to worry about pegging it. C&L plenum and 75mm TB will definetely help you out, on almost stock 99+ GT's I believe the combo is getting around 7-8 rwhp so on a supercharged application the gains will be more. Slap a CAI on there if you dont have one already, I prefer plastic ones such as densecharger, JLT, or K&N FIPK.

I thought the Allen supercharger replaced your intake manifold (i.e. like a twin screw, or roots blower)? So how the hell is a plenum gonna help?

First of all thank you for input it really helped a lot.

I just got the car and I am new to super charger. I have to admit i know nothing about plenum that's why I asked about it in the first place.

If plenum is attached to maniford then you are right I dont have maniford so I guess I can not install it.

OK so Just get cold air intake with plastic tube? Does after market intake tube really worth it? It seems like they are over priced.

I think I am just gonna get $125 kit the one with K&N filter MAF adapter and plastic casing.

Swapping a pulley to smaller diameter is tempting but I was told I have to update to forged piston
which means too much money....maybe I will do it later but can not find a pulley for allen supercharger.

all the pulleys I see on the ad are for some other brand......

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

If you're going s/c, you'll need bigger injectors and a recalibrated MAF. If you just want the larger MAF housing, then forget C&L. www.rpmoutlet.com has the MOTOBLUE 85mm MAF housing and adapter for about $170. This is only the MAF housing and adapter, not the filter, etc. However, it will allow you to choose any aftermarket CAI you want and bolt up to it. I have the Steeda CAI and I'll buy the MOTOBLUE pieces when I upgrade, as I can still bolt up everything.

Good luck

When I bought My 99 GT Allen Supercharger was installed already by a dealer.
So she'got bigger injectors installed but I dont think they recaliberated stock MAF.

In any ways I just placed an order:Tunableinduction.com
System 5 CAI for 99 GT
Includes Green Cotton air filter
housing for 85mm MAF

Stage 2 kit has everthing above and 85mm MAF. If I get this MAF ($190 extra)
without tuning would it help gain any extra HP? I have a SC with very low pressure at 6lbs

I will let you know what I think about this CAI after I install the kit.

What is an allen s/c? never heard of it. If you start chaging intake and exhaust on your fi car, then get it all at one time and look for a tune.ESPECIALLY since u just got the car and you dont know jack about what alls been put on there. Im not saying ur an idiot, I would want to get it on a dyno asap. You dont need forged pistons to run 8 even 9 psi. But it wouldnt hurt to buy forged internals and bump it to 14 or something.

The parts I listed are just the housing, not the actual sensor. Just gives a cleaner air flow. The sensor would still be calibrated the same. However, if you have increased the injector size (24# or maybe 30# at most with 6 psi) then the MAF MUST be recalibrated. You are probably running very rich right now if the stock calibration is on the MAF.

Guys, can a good tuner skip a recal of the MAF? And am I correct about running rich in the above scenario?

What is the current exaust setup?? A set of long tubes with a catted or catless xpipe will make a ton more power than anything you can do so far as boltons on the intake. 8 PSI and a decent exaust should net you somewhere close to 380-400 RWHP depending on the blower.

If you decide to do either (the intake or the exaust) you should get the car retuned at a dyno shop, and if you up the boost you have almost no safe choice but to retune it.

The exaust won't cost THAT much more than the intake stuff if you do all of the intake boltons (filter, maf, inlet pipe, t/B) if you can do it yourself. You should be able to get a decent set of LTs for 500-600, and a catless X for like 200. Install would probably run around 400 bucks at a honest shop.
