WOAH, thats not even a close comparision. I would say an 8.8 is almost as strong as a ford 9 inch once u weld the tubes and run good guts. But a chevy 12 bolt??????? Chevy 12 bolts, and chevy rear ends in general are GARBAGE. 12 bolts are junk, plain and simple and trust me I have found out from many years of offroading and running K5 blazers and stuff. 90% of serious drag racers are running ford 9 inch rears in their chevys and for the real hardcore chevy fans that still live in denial and wont run a ford rear they run dana 60s.

you will def be good up to 1000, i had a buddy do the same and he is running 850hp with slicks and he drops the clutch at 5k and been fine for a yr now, he street drives it too. but the most def get the 31 spline upgrade. i need to do that.
but mine hasnt broke yet so why fix it if it hasnt broke yet. and im running 28spline

It two years of offroading with my k5 I blew 3 10 bolts and 3 12 bolts. Compared to 4 years of pure abuse with a ford 9" that never blew. 12 bolts are definatly not "strong".

Chris Tuten has been 7.0s in the quarter mile at over 200mph with an 8.8. As mentioned, weld the tubes, install axle braces, install rear girdle, upgrade axles, etc.
We sell the axle braces, rear girdle, and torque box reinforcements at UPR Products. (and MF members get a 10% discount on them)

This is like "How many licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"
Look around and you are bound to see people putting way more power to them than you are. If you start making power with the big boys, you won't be asking a question like this on here.
