Thanks for the input guys. If I were to go with just ported heads, cams, new TB, and a tune what would my HP roughly be? Mind you this is going down to a bare block and being built. Now what if I were to go with the DOHC swap and port out those head, along with a cam kit, new TB and tune. What would my end result roughly be?

Depending on how good they heads end up flowing after they are ported will greatly depend on the power you will put out. Id say it would put you around 360 HP and maybe 380 ft lbs. And if you went with the DOHC yoou couls probably get it to 400 HP, just my thought.

with ported heads, stage 2 hitech cams and long tubes, ive seen a friend lay down 333rwhp through a 5 speed. ive seen 01 cobras make over 300rwhp with a cai and long tubes alone

Ok so it looks more promising to keep the SOHC setup. I could live with 360hp, i don't think many people would be complaining. Now this is still just free balling here, if I were to go DOHC, would I need to change longtubes to accomidate for those heads? Are there exhaust ports different from the SOHC to where they will no longer be of any use to me if I went this route?

Ok, I'm keeping the SOHC heads, porting and polishing them, throwing an aggressive cam in, throwing on an all aluminum intake, and new TB. Anything else I should take into consideration of getting for this build? And one last question this being a motor out of a 99-00 GT, is there going to be any problems with it mating to my 96 ECU? Is it even going to run with my GT's brain? Haha

you will need a good tuner to make the proper adjustments for the ecu to work. it would be easier to buy a used ecu from another 99-01 GT. and unless i'm mistaken, you will probably need to disable PATS with a tuner either way

your ecu will work but reguadless, you'll need to tune it with a set of cams. also, might want to step up to 24# injectors. your stock pump might not be enough to support that rwhp. if not, a focus svt pump or ford supercar gt pump will drop right in. if you have a 5 speed, a clutch is a must. dwtjr3's intake is a great upgrade btw, use a 6061 plenum and a 75mm tb with it. also have the intake port matched to the heads.

Ok, so with the SCT tuner that I have would sending all the information in to BAMA Tuning eliminate and make this motor adapt to the my ECU? dwtjr3 how much would you like for the intake?
