Default Fuel line/Gas tank question

I was replacing my fuel filter on my 98 gt when I noticed two black fuel lines leading to the top of the gas tank (the only two lines leading to the gas tank so I'm guessing they both connect to the two fuel pump tubes?) were loose and also were only connected by tape! One line leads to the fuel filter. So question is do I buy a whole line with clips and everything? If so can I normally buy them at local parts store?

You may be able to order the lines through any parts store that carries OE replacements, like Dorman. If a shop is knowledgeable on the plastic fuel lines, they may have the tools and parts to replace only the fittings. It usually involves cutting back the original line and splicing on a short extension with the new fitting. Special tools are required.
Also, look at RockAuto.com for the lines and/or fitting kits. I have several to fix, so I'll be ordering the tools to do my own repairs soon.

Thanks! I work a local lube and tune and my boss let me borrow that special tool your talking about. So I'm thinking that I'll drop my tank and take the lines that are broken in with me so I have a better chance of getting the right line lol.

I know rockauto.com has them, but probably in the universal parts section, rather than by model and year.

I also saw repair stubs about 12" long at AutoZone today.
