I run Pennzoil Platinum 5/30 and change it out at 5k. Any good Syn oil should be fine for 5-6k OCIs. @BMitchell373 Im sure it had nothing to do with the oil you were running. Royal purple is good oil and not going to cause spun bearings. These cars with a 6 qt sump are pretty easy on oil and could go a lot more miles then 6k on good oil if DD. Pushing the oil more then 6-7k or so though I would have an oil analysis done.

Why not just run 5w-30 year round and call it a day? That "w" denotes they are both "winter grade" oils. (As opposed to the old "SAE30" for example)

i run the Motorcraft 10W-30 synthetic blend and change it every 3K miles. if i hammer on the car at an open track day it gets changed before i go home.

but when you build your own motor you get a little **** about taking care of it lol

^that's a good article. anyone else heard of running diesel spec oil in our cars?

so far i've been running castrol edge syntec 5w20 every 5k and a motorcraft filter. I will never use anything other than a motorcraft filter. Parts guys at my work got a bunch of brands of filters from autozone, fram and wix included, and the motorcraft filter looked much "thicker" and looked like it would deff filter more than anything else.
