Default cluster gauges wont go back

so my problem is i tried installing an aftermarket cluster and ended up not liking it. when i went to put the original black one back together and started the car the gauges were off. the fuel and the tach seem fine but the oil pressure and battery charge go to full, the temp goes to half and the speedo goes to about 10. i could have sworn that i put the gauges on the same place that i pulled them off. i know i should have never touched this thing but i guess i have to learn some how. . . please help..

The "gauges" are six identical multi-phase motors, with the shafts entirely free to turn with the power off--this makes it difficult to get the indicators in the "right-place" on reassembly.

The good news is that here is a good write up on how to reset the indicators using a 9V battery and some small jumpers.

Note: I found two GT clusters (my '03 and a brand new '04 cluster) in which the speedometer only goes to 70mph with the applied voltage method described above. If you find it's reading 10mph too high reset the speedometer needle to 70 when applying the test voltage.

That was an awesome explanation. I'm gonna try it out tomorrow. Thanks so much. Awesome.
