Default Steering column question

Does anyone know if the steering columns are the same from 94-04? My 96 gt needs a new one, and I was wondering if the new edge ones are better, and if the cobra ones are better than the v6/gt ones?

Take what I say with a grain of salt... I believe it to be true, but no guarantees:

I don't believe there is any difference between V6, GT, Cobra, etc all other things being equal. I don't think there was any changes between those years either. The one thing you may have to watch for is between auto and stick, as I think there is something about the way the key lock works that is different between the two. Now that I wrote that, I believe there was a change in the PATS system, so that would present a possible wiring and keylock change, but once again I believe that the actual steering column is the still the same unit. Also tilt and stereo/cruise/etc controls.
Try to get your hands on an interchange manual. I don't know if you can find one online, but all junk/salvage/u-pull-it yards should have one.

im pretty sure you are right, i pulled up some info on all data, they dont have the same part numbers, the only difference is the last 2 letters, which i believe are just updated versions of the part. heres the pics as well from a 97 GT and then an 03 GT. identical.
