Two tries to get into 5th gear?

id have to say its the syncro, i had the same problem in my 97 except it took two try's to get it out of fifth. finally it hung up in fifth one day on the highway when i was coming to a stoplight, had to force it out and after that the sync was shot. and it was rough moving the shifter through the entire gear range after that.
I'll probably knock the dust off of my CTS and give the GT a break of DD haha.

call up tremec, they'll have the part number if you just want syncros. if your not going to do the work yourself though, i would ride out cause you could pick up a brand new stock transmission for about $1200. so whats the point of having a shop just replace a few syncro rings when you could get a whole new tranny for the same price
