Default Tire size guidance

picked up a 96 GT. 17" wheel option. The tires on it now are 276/40/zr17. However this does not seem to be a common size. After some searching it is not the stock size as well. stock for the 17 was a 245? My question is when looking for replacements will the stock 17" size option tires be noticeably smaller than what I have? I see a lot of 275/40/zr17 options as well.

The size.you have on it now 275/40/17 is a common size but not a lot of local tire stores stock them due to alot of them being more performance were as the stock 245/45/17s are more commonly stocked due to the different types of tires offered in that size. If you go back to the oem size it will be 30mm's narrower than what you currently have on the car.
