1998 mustang starting problems
i have a starting problem
my shifter was being buttface got it to work went through all the gears called it a day ..... went back the next day to start it car made a chug chug noise and sounded like a tommy gun going off
i took the battery to autozone needs charged but it fine
i took the alternator to autozoe its fine
i cant get the starter off h pipe is in the way i took the soleniod off wen to junkyard got one off a 4.6 thunderbird didnt work
anyone else wanna take a wack at it

idk bout fuses but i have a very very clean negtive cable that is very tight i talked to my retired ford plant buddy he said try turing th motor over with a socket bc the starter tooth may be stuck this is a pain in the *** ive been under the car for about a week now i have no idea what to do i needa get this turd outta here by saturday so i can have a ss camaro

not started just solieniod im going to hit the starter with ah hammer and see if it works and try turning the engine over to see if the starter tooth is stuck...... im going to drop my h pipe is or would it be ok to unplug the 4 o2 sensors to get at the starter if it doesnt work im having my battery carged for free tommarrow thatll tell me if thts the problem and does anyone know if a thunderbird solienod will work in a mustang ???? URGENT ANY SUGESTIONS

Check the battery voltage while attempting to crank the engine over--it needs to stay at 10.0V or better to crank the engine and allow the electronics to operate, if it doesn't then then battery is bad.
The battery tests performed by many FLAPS are not worth the time involved, to really test a starting duty battery a high-current load test needs to be done. Apply a load of 1/2 the CCA rating for 15 seconds, the battery should drop no lower than 9.5V.
