Unhappy 4.6 Rebuild or Replace (Arizona) Just looking for some Info

Hey, I'm a little new to the forums but I'm familiar with Mustangs. It had me right when I turned the key.

So at the moment my Motor has a Rod Knock and I'm looking for the best options to get another heart back in my car. I don't have alot of money but it's going to be cheaper to get my 1996 Mustang GT running then to get another car and I really do love this car. I just need some more advice on what is the best options and this seemed like the place to be. Thus far I have come down to these options.

Option: 1

Buy a MMR motor rated up to 600hp short block and throw on some PI heads and pay to get it installed. (That way it is Super Charger ready )

Option: 2

I can get a 4.6L 1999+ at the junk yard in AZ for 1,000 and slowly build that one.

The Problem:

Is this is my daily driver for the most part and I need to get this figured out before I'm left stranded with the thrown piston.

If it is your only car the smart thing to do is get the junkyard PI motor and save your pennies for the MMR S/C engine.

If this is your only vehicle i would fix it and consider finding a cheap daily driver before sinking money into it.

Well I understand that I just have a thing with muscle cars. My second car is a 1969 cougar that is a project but at this point it has a newer motor and trans in it and can be road worthy for not too much. I'm still looking for a good honda to drive until the tires fall off tho. :-)

I have found a PI motor that was wrecked for 1k tho. The guy at the salvage yard stated it was wrecked all over tho. I think it might be worth checking out.
