yes, I had that exact problem. I had to continually clean the MAF until I got rid of the K&N oil master filter that came with my car and replaced it with a clean paper Motorcraft filter. No more problem.

you definitely have to watch how much you spray on it. The K&N is just not worth the money or effort for a high mileage stock engine you're trying to get the most out of.

K&n filter oil is dyed red for a reason. It's to help you apply the correcyt amount. The correct amount is very little.

The oil will soak into the foam media easily and spread itself throughout the filter. The next time you oil a filter, Spray a small amount around the narrow end and stand the filter on its fat end overnight.

The next day, you'll see just how far the oil has spread itself throughout the media. If there are any uncoated areas, apply a tiny amount of oil.

You do not have to soak the damn thing in oil. I've been using K&N and similar filters for over 20 years and have NEVER had oiled MAF sensor or any other problem.

good info, but you could still save some time and effort by just using a plain Motorcraft filter. I don't really see the advantage to an oiled filter, unless maybe you need that kind of setup to protect a really expensive engine.
