those two in the picture together are not the same. look at the left to right lapping. on the unit on the LEFT the top port goes to the RIGHT and on the right unit the top port goes to the LEFT. The ribs are curvy compared the straight ribs on the Left unit.

the beefy manifold looks like it can have a larger volume of air go through it, or flow better. The one on the Left is clearly a Non-PI intake manifold with a metal cross over. Its exactly what I had on my 97 GT. The one on the right is what I have on my 01 GT so its like 15hp

Makes sense, hope I didn't come off as cocky asking that. I see the solid plastic unit break often at work,.Usually by the first injector on the passenger side.When I did mine, I wasn't too worried about gaining anything except avoiding misfire codes. Professional products has that same set up, completely metal, again I hear about the bottom being unevenly machined; this is on metal intakes in general though, and nothing that couldn't be fixed with a diegrinder with buffing disks.
