PI intake/heads

PI intake/heads
Hello all, this is my first thread post, hope I follow the rules okay.
I have a 99 mustang gt with 4.6 sohc.
My question is regarding the intake/head combination. I developed a coolant leak on the coolant crossover on my intake. Found it was cracked, and that it was of non-PI design( I assume). It is all plastic.
Some googling referred me to some forums with PI and non-PI descriptions. As far as I can tell, my intake is non PI, as it is all plastic. The I'd # on my intake is xr3e-9424-dc.
My heads, however, tell a different story. The ports are square shaped, and have the numbers 4pi(left) and 15pi(right) stamped into the small space under the valve covers. I'm not sure if robes are relevant numbers, it's just what I can see without removing valve covers.
The heads also have 13 and 14 valve cover bolts. (Windsor PI?)
I was with The person I bought the car from when they bought the car new, and has never had any intake mods done (I know the car well)
I obviously need to replace my intake, but am unsure if using a PI intake will cause any issues. Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

The first few years of PIs (99-01) were all plastic manifolds. They came out with the aluminum crossover sometime during the 02 model year.
You'll be replacing yours with an aluminum crossover type. You "might" need to get a new altinator bracket aswell.

Make sure you get the OEM Ford model, not an aftermarket brand (do NOT go to Autozone, etc.). It's not really expensive.

Just an update.
Found a used pi intake with the aluminum crossover for $50, the only thing different was the thermostat neck. It was off a crown vic.
And I did have to modify my alternator bracket, as you mentioned. Thanks for your help, and I am glad I signed up. Ill be posting mod questions once I start my new job. Can't wait to start enhancing performance on it

Rockauto.com has really good prices and I never had problems. Granted I've only bought parts for a grand prix but I looked for a manifold cuz of a stang I was lookin for and they were cheapest from what I've seen. You might try that site sometime. Just my 2 cents
