Default Winter Storage Tips

It is almost time to put my 97 GT convertible to bed for the winter. Does anyone know where to get some sort of mat to put on the garage floor to help cut down on the moisture coming up from the floor that could lead to rust? Also Is it ok to turn the car on once a week and let it run for a while instead of draining all the fluids? Anyone else have any storage tips? I heard putting some moth ***** in the car is a good idea... Thanks a lot.

I usually run mine once a week. Its not a bad idea at all. And sometimes on nicer days when the streets are clean, ill take it out for a ride which is also good to do. Not sure where to get the mats. I keep my garage heated at around 50 degrees or higher to keep it dry.

When I stored my 928S4 I had a battery tender installed, made sure the doors were just closed to the first latch (help save seals) and when I did run it made sure the fluids got hot enought to burn off any moisture.

I went ot Lowes and bought some rubber matting that they have on those big reels. I think I paid less than $100. I had to buy 3 sections because it only like 2 or 3 feet wide works great. I also put dryer sheets in the car to keep out any critters that might want to get in the car. Everyone has there opinions on to start your car or not but i have always been told put your car up and leave it alone untill you plan on driving it again.

I park it, make sure that gas is nearly full (dont know if this does anything or not)

put it in a big bag called, you guessed it, a carbag, roll the windows donw a tad, disconnect the battery, and leave it be with some mothballs till about late march maybe

oh, and there is no getting it out and driving because of insurance, can you say 107$ for 6 months even though, it never sits 6 months, maybe 4-5

This winter I'm looking foward to hopefully being able to turn off the AC and open a the windows.

Even if it only lasts a few months
