definitely an added in button, probably went to some accessory the PO took out

That is aftermarket. Maybe it was an arming system switch for nitrous or something else related to an aftermarket sound system.

no neons unfortunately. I pressed it, left it on for about 5 minutes yesterday, and nothing changed, had the radio on and everything.

I'd pull the switch out and see if it has any power going to it or maybe trace the wires. I agree, it's aftermarket.
