Default SCT tuner question?

I just bought a new SCT tuner yesterday and it seems to make a big difference, but I am a little confused as to which setting I should be running it under? They give you two to choose from and it's based off of the octane of the gas. I started it at the highest level one and it knocked a little under heavy accelleration why it was cold but it was fine after that. Today I moved it down to the 87 octane tune just because I am worried about doing damage to my motor? I quess what I am looking for it to find out how you guys who have the sct tuners like them and what you would reccomend?

Default RE: SCT tuner question?

Your dealer usually uploads 2 custom tunes based on your mods and octane. If you are running a higher-octane tune, I suggest running a few full tanks of that (the different octane) through your motor before flashing your ECU with the upgraded octane tune (to ensure that you are truly running at that octane). I have an Xcal 2 and with the prices of gas, have been running the 87 octane tune on 87 octane without any issues FYI…
