Default New 96 GT owner!

Hey everyone, just purchased a 96 GT last week. I bought it as a project for me and my girls brother and he doesnt know it but im going to give the car to him after the summer (after i have some fun with it!)

Pros:
-BRAND new high quality two tone paint job; black & gray (top is gray- trunk, midline of hood, and roof).
-MEAN set of rims, prob off a later model? also painted to match
-a really built motor, still have to dig out mods (MSD ignition, BBK intake, aluminum radiator, and its VERY CLEAN inside.)
-odo reads 120k but the whole motor looks like its been gone thru and no leaks
-flowmaster exhaust, sounds MEAN
-got it for the price of a beaten down v6
-seats look new

Cons:
-whoever did the body work thought it would be cool to "shave" the door & trunk locks... PROBLEM- the after market alarm doesnt lock the doors!!!!
-car only locks when the car is on though with the door lock switch
-needs rear tires
-stereo isnt wired
-ABS, airbag, and check engine light on; i tried plugging my reader but either the car's plug is bad or my reader went bad still have to troubleshoot the reader.
-Engine smells like its running rich, maybe thats the CEL

also forgot to mention, it has been lowered and i love the spoiler delete.
Basically, everything i would have wanted done is already done to the car!

It probably has a new ECM that hasn't been programmed to the car. That's usually what causes the dead OBD port and those lights. Otherwise it looks pretty good, nice of you to give it to him.

I would say look at the one you have, if it's shiny and has a label on it saying to have it programmed, I would guess it's new. Last time I did it, I had a shop that specialized in it, took it to them with the VIN number and they programmed it.

Thanks everyone and ok ill take a look at it! also took the car to a friend who has a used tire shop, he got me a pretty good goodyear rear tire for $40 installed because it was the only bad one! Then took to pepboys for a alignment.

also a few days before that, under the hood we saw it has a bbk fuel pump regulator and gauge, which idles at 40psi. also has BBK fuel lines (blue) has a BBK intake manifold, with a intake that goes into the fender, and a cone filter behind the bumper. Full MSD ignition kit, and each side has its own ignition box or something? still trying to figure that set up out havent seen it before.. ps- car is THIRSTY!!!!

On the rack learned, a few new things: the muffler is stock, the sound comes from long tube headers and cat delete! so adding mufflers would just make it so much throatier! also has an aluminum drive shaft. Apparently needs tie rods and the mechanic recommended getting a camber kit because of how low the car is. Going to be a fun easy and relatively cost effective project cant wait for the summer!!

the a/c compressor is hooked up and blows air, but isnt cold. Car was sitting for a while before i bought it so it could just need a recharge.. simple

i guess ill post all my questions on this thread instead of bringing up a bunch of old threads or making a ton of new ones!
