Default transmission swap

I have a 2003 gt with an auto... But I really miss driving a stick I like to have full control of my car.. Its currently my daily but I do plan to mod it.. I want to do a transmission swap but I would like to know if it is worth it and if so what brands should I go with. What should I expect material s that I'll need etc. And if not what can I do to the auto

If Im not mistaken the manual cars by 03 were using a tremec 3650 trans. You could probly get away with using a 99+ t45 I think those were between 99-02. But your looking at between $700-$1,500 for the transmission alone. You might be able to find a used one at the junk yard for around 400 bucks, but it will probly need rebuilt and that's another 4-500 to rebuild it.

Here is an add in ebay that will give you an idea of what all you need to buy to make the swap ...
NOTE: The only difference in the kit below and for an 03 is the computer needed.

The computer controls all that. The only difference between the auto and manual computers is the fact that the auto ecu has programming for shift points in it.

So the computer would know that I put a manual transmission in it? There's nothing I have to change?

As long as you swap out the auto computer for a manual computer and switch the transmission harness out, the engine wont know the difference. That's why you have to swap computers.
