EGR valve keeps cracking
Hi everyone,
So I was looking around under the hood of my 98 GT and I noticed that my EGR valve was cracked. Not the valve itself, but the base of it that goes over the metal hose that is connected. With the engine running I could see tiny bits of fluid spurting out of the crack. I went to the store and got a replacement, and it installed just fine. After driving for a few hours my check engine light came on with the code P1443, something to do with the evap system. I looked at the new EGR valve and it had developed an even larger crack than the old one. What gives? Why does this part keep cracking? I can upload a picture if it helps. I really hope the part is defective so I can take it to O'Reilly and get my 70 bucks back.

you either have a bent tube and/or vibration issue, or the cat is slightly clogged on that side causing excess exhaust pressure to travel up that tube and melt the valve. The Escape suv had that issue with melting/breaking EGR valves because the cat would clog.
