It will tap into your hp better....stock is 2:73, you'll see a driffernce
Stock gear is 3.27.. read what everyone else says about gears in a 99+ get 4.10's or else you'll regret not doing it.

I have been told that pullies on a 99 + GT area waste of money. If you have any waranty left kiss it good bye.

Well whoever told you that needs a good smack.

Pulleys will not void warranty and for a modification that will be less than $300 installed for anywhere from 8-12HP is a decent mod.

I have 4.10 and I went from a 9.8? to a 9.25 in a 1/8 mile run. It may have just been a better night at the track though.I have no regrets on going with 4.10s either.

WOW lots of great information that needs to be forgotten fast. Pullies help and are cheap[sm=goodidea.gif]. I have a 99gt with 3.73. I run 2350 rpm at 70 opposed to 2000+ stock. I have not noticed any kind of change in gas milage except that its much more fun to stomp on it and you will do it more often. I would reccomend 4.10's because i go to the strip every n then. 3.73's will be enough for the street. Fixing the speedometer is relatively easy with a speedcal from dallas mustangs. Gears are absolutey the best mod i have. you wont be disappointed with any gear swap over 3.73. if you go to the track often, you (like me) might regret not going steeper. Heres something for you to go by.

Me mods below vs. 2003gt with catback and cia.
I am constantly 1 sec or better in the 1/8 mile. I drove both cars that night. Those #'s are mostly b/c of gear. Find someone with gears and get a ride. you will be impressed.

tecnician at a dealership told me that they had to refuse to repair a bad alternator because the guy had a short pulley on his alternator and power steering.

I would take it to a different dealership. The underdrive pulleys put less stress on the alternator than stock and any competent mechanic should know this. The only way I can see them causing a problem is if they pulley is somehow oddly unbalanced, doesn't line up to the belt quite right or is rubbing something. All of these are pretty unlikely.
