Backfire and now loud clacking noise

The plug reach is .691 to .708 inches. If the plugs were too long, they'd all be like that.

You said no codes, but that plug wouldn't fire the way it is...

There would be a mark on the ground electrode if the piston hit it, but that's what it
looks like. Continually hitting it would also damage the threads, and it looks like
only the exposed threads in the chamber were crumpled with multiple hits...

The first thing i would do is go get a plug put it in and see what happens
