Default Rebuild or Swap?

Driving a 2003 GT with almost 160k, has some white smoke on idle that I believe to be from a head gasket.

I have a budget of around 4k, I would like to have something with more power than stock but still have A/C, Heat, Cruise control, ect.

If I go the swap route, I believe I could sell my current motor for around $800 or so, making my budget almost 5k.

I have never planned anything this big before, if anyone has done something similar, or has experience, I would love some advice.

(For the swap route, I have seen some local 5.0 coyote engines for around 3k)
