Default 1-2 shift on T3650

I have an '04 GT with the T3650. When I go to make the 1-2 shift, the shifter disengages from first OK, but either resists, or grinds going into second. This doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to annoy me. There is also a whistling noise sometimes when I downshift into second. Is this normal? Also, anyone have an issue with the steering making a creaking noise when turning corners or going over bumps?

You need to write this info down and take your car to any Ford dealership you trust and they should fix it for free.

I have the same exact problem on my 02 GT 5spd. Its only at 27k miles and I'm the third owner. Would this recall apply to me as well?

Yea, it was a creaking/squeaking noise. Dealer said that Ford made a new part to fix the problem. They replaced my rack and pinion mount bushings free of charge. Trans wouldn't act up for the dealer though so they said to wait until it does it again, then bring it in. They were pretty cooperative otherwise.
