Default Possible dragging brake caliper?

Driver side makes an almost grinding sound when coming to a stop. The sound only happens sometimes and can also be more dramatic at times. The brake pad on the inside has also worn considerably more than the one on the outside. Do I have a dragging caliper?

Generally speaking, uneven pad wear can be attibuted to caliper pins not sliding as they are supposed to, thus causing the pad to drag. Either the grease in them is bad or they may be worn and need replaced. Without being there to put my own eyes on it, that's the first suspect anyway.

I have had tiny stones (gravel road to house, 3 miles) lodge between the splash guard and rotor, make horrible grinding noise, then disappear. They evidently fall out. Possibility here.
