engine swaps are costly, and most people are gonna just reccomend trading for a gt rather than messing around with it. you could get a used 99+ 4.6 motor for around $1000-$1500, and you need the wiring harness and all. if you're not doing the work yourself i wouldnt bother, but if you are then id go for it.

The money he'd save on insurance, assuming he has full coverage, would justify swapping his v6 for a v8, rather than buying a GT. However I'd rather just pay the extra insurance...

They pretty much said it unless your after insurance, just get a gt car. If your gonna do a swap, then dont skimp go with a 5.4 sohc you wont be dissapointed. either way if you supercharge that v6 you will only be saticefied for a short time, and your mods are more limited. Go with a v8 that way you can make more power later if you want. I know how this stuff is you get it and your like man this is cool, but then it gets old and your upset that you spent all that money, so you will resort to spending more money to add more mods and so on and so forth. Just get a v8. Also keep in mind if you go with a v8 you may want to swap your rear differential if you make more than 300 rwhp. Ive seen the six versions implode after a good romp. but if its just a factory sohc of 4.6 or 5.4 you can probly get by. Also the sohc are cheap in the salvage market 1200-1700$ If you want mega power get a navigator 5.4 motor with dohc, but look out for the 4000$ price range. If you go with a 4.6 sohc try to get one out of an explorer they are much lighter wight. Good luck!

its a fairly easy swap if you have ever worked on cars my i would do it but if you are gonna pay for someone to do it i would just trade for a gt.

i was thinking of doing a dohc swap in my gt once i got to looking at what i would need i just figued if i ever decide to do a engine swap i will buy a v6 and do it to that car.

+1. if you're gonna bother doing all that work, you might as well make it worth your effort. I wouldn't bother swapping in a 2v 4.6 unless you plan on a power adder.

Supercharging will cost just a little less than doing a V8 swap, minus a better tranny + rear end.

Ideally, if you want to spend your money smart (really can't spend money on a car and justify it hah), you're best bet would be to wait until you can buy a GT.

Bolt-ons + supercharging will just get you into the 13's with traction and you'll have spent double the money it would have cost to get a GT into the 11's. But if you are just looking for something to do with your money, a supercharger will be extremely easier than a V8 swap.
