Default Fuel Pump Issues?

Sitting at a stop light idling, light changed, pressed gas and started to stall out(95 degrees outside, A/C on). Seemed to be a loss of power for a while, but made it four miles home. Seemed to be running ok in driveway at idle. No dummy lights, all guages normal. Fuel smell when exiting car. Wondering if it could be the fuel pump. I know that won't necessarily trigger a code.Or possibly injectors...Thanks in advance for any suggestions before I take it to my mechanic(I like to do repairs to it myself, but this has me stumped).

Check fuel pressure at fuel rail. No smell of fuel should ever exist. Very strong odor might indicate a leak severe enough to cause lack of sufficient fuel at engine. Possible fuel evap. system problem. Clogged fuel filter indicated by low pressure at engine.
