Rotating haul during steady cruise

Rotating haul during steady cruise
Vehicle: 2001 Mustang GT, 5 speed manual. No mods. 20,000 miles.
Problem: I was cruising down the highway at a steady 70 MPH using a cruise control. About 40 minutes into the trip I noticed a haul coming from engine, or transmission, somewhere in the dash. It sounded like a disk rotating and getting out of balance or something (I had my radio off). My AC was on, I turned it off noise continued still. It get from not loud, to pretty loud and then it was gone, and I haven't heard it since. I felt no vibrations. What's going on?

Hm.
Well, if it were your driveshaft, that would shake any urine in your bladder out onto the floor. A bent wheel would shake you to death, warped rotors would too. Out of balance wheel would have vibrated too.
I really don't know where to tell you to look...
