Road Race DOHC Questions

Road Race DOHC Questions
I found a DOHC 4.6L motor from a ’93 Lincoln for $200, sounded like a good deal? While I’ve used SBC in the past, (they were readily available and cheap) I thought I’d see what you Ford guys liked so much.
Since this is my 1st Ford project I thought someone here could help me answer some questions.
What transmition options are there?
What computer and wiring harness will work?
Is there a “better” ECU to use, like one that is easier to flash?
Is the crank forged like used in the SVT or they used cast in the Lincolns? later?
The motor will be used in a 2000lbs road race car, maybe turbocharged if I opt for that class to run in.
Thanks for the help,
Julian

RE: Road Race DOHC Questions
If thats a 4.6liter DOHC from a Lincoln Mark 8 then thats basiclly the same motor thats in the 96-98 mustang cobras. But I beleive that has a cast crank, with a 6 bolt. Instead of an 8 bolt forged crank thats in the cobra. The Mark 8 came with an automatic transmission so the computer is for an automatic also if it comes with one. It also has a different intake than the cobra too. You can bolt up a tremec t-5 tremec 3650, tremec tko 500, 600. ot tremec t-56. Or a ford racing transmission. If you bought a computer and wiring harness from a 96-98 cobra that will work for your motor. That is very cheap for that motor. I have seen one for as cheap as $600. Check ebay, I saw one with trans, motor, and wiring harness and computer for that price. I dont know much about which aftermarket computer is the best but I know there are some out there. Sounds like its going to be one hell of a road race car. Good luck man.
