Default which setup?

i currently have a MAC CAI, which is mounted in the fenderwell, and i want to change over to another system that is easier to service, and will make more power. my birthday is next week and im trying to decide between getting the C&L trueflow inlet pipe and C&L airbox replacement, or the K&N FIPK. which one do yall reccomend? RPM outlet claims that the K&N makes 12 hp, and the C&L combo only makes 10. that just didnt seem right to me bc the filter on the C&L is soo much bigger than the K&N and the inlet pipe looks alot fatter too. its about a $50 difference.

I would skip the idea and pick up some gears.

CAI's aren't worth the money at all.

you're not going to gain anything but maybe .5HP going from a MAC to a K&N. it's not worth the $200 for just half a pony. get gears like DAN said. those are less than $200 and you'd definitely feel a difference with those.

Cheaper way to do it is to take a hacksaw and cut the pipe after the MAF so it doesnt turn into the fenderwell. It won't give you more horsepower or anything, but it's much easier to service. It's also right behind the headlight so when you take it to the track you can just pop the headlight out and air will be forced directly into it. It will be in the same place as the K&N. Worked great for me and my friend. I have a MAC he has an ebay knock off on a v6.

personally i would love to get gears, but i drive back and forth to college, and i dont want to void my warranty either. i just feel like the mac is going to eventually start slowing me down. how easy was it to hack that thing off? and what size filter did you buy to make it work? that would be alot easier

I used the original MAC filter. The pipe is the same width all the way up so it still just slides on. Then you just tighten the clamp around it. I just got tired of taking it out of the fenderwell. It's not difficult at all. Just takes some time.

that probably looks pretty ghetto, i think i might just buy a longer bigger filter and an adapter piece for it
