Default Cometic Heads gaskets

I have read that the use of cometic head gaskets will bring compression down to normal 9.4-1 if used in a .084 thinkness. Factory compressed thikness is .039. Now my question is that if you used thicker head gaskets, how would this effect the timing chain, and front cover ect? Are they realy usable or is someone just talking out there fog pipe?

the timing chain tentioner should take care of the slack in it and there shouldn't be enougth diffence to make the fornt cover have any problems but if they do you could use a file and work the bolt holes just a littel and get every thing to line up right.

Thanks this is a real major stepping stone for pi swapers. Now a supercharger could be used on a early non pi motor with pi heads, and cometic gaskets will withstand the pressure they are the next best thing to oringing the heads. Realy all they are is stainless steal plate stacked between gasket material to whatever thickness you need. anyways cool! Just another option for use non pi ers.

now when you do a pi head on a non pi motor the compesion ends up about 10:1 so you would really need ot get new pistons to do any kind of boost.
