cam swap for 04 GT
Has anyone done a cam swap on a 4.6 sohc. What brand and size cam did you use? Did you have to change the computer tune? I am looking for a cam thats not to wild but that will give a nice boost in performance and sound.

Code3GT has made the swap. He recommends the VTengines.com items. Comp Cams also makes decent units.
I'm leaning towards the Comp Cams 4.6L Xtreme XE270AH Camshaft. They have a more mild XE262AH also.
To really see the full potential of the cams:
1) Replace stock exhaust with something better. Headers to tips.
2) Replace stock air intake plumbing through plenum.
3) Port & polish the heads or buy the VT heads.
Yeah, big $, but worth it. If you plan on a S/C, they have specific grinds for that too. The web sites will give good descriptions of rpm range, idle quality, computer changes, etc.
